1 Day Workshops (Bedford Studio)

The 1 day workshop is designed to give people a sample of clay sculpture to see if it's for you.  After completing a 1 day workshop you will be in a better position to know if clay sculpture is something you would like to pursue further.  There will be a £95.00 deduction for those who complete the introduction day and enroll for the 4 day horse workshop.

What will I learn?

  • Design criteria of the head of a horse, cow, lion or dog (Size Approx 14cm by 6cm)

£595.00  (£95.00 deduction for people who have done the introduction to sculpture day)

£1200.00 one to one tuition in the comfort of your own home (£100.00 deduction for people who have done the introduction to sculpture day)

What will I learn?

 

Hamish will guide you through the processes of making a realistic well proportioned sculpture of your choice of animal either a horse, lion, dog or cow as you can see in the photo gallery.  By the end of the workshop you will have a good understanding of the processes used to make good animal sculpture.  Depending on the each individual person the sculpture may require more work after the 4 days to complete at home.

Day 1

  • How to make an armature for a quadrepede
  • How to apply clay to the sculpture
  • Measuring techniques

Day 2

  • Correct application of clay to the sculpture
  • Introduction to basic skeletal anatomy of each animal
  • How to ensure the proportions are correct

Day 3

  • Basic muscular anatomy of the animals

Day 4

  • Techniques for manes and tails
  • Textures that can be achieved

Terms & Conditions

  1. If the course that you have choosen is underbooked 3 weeks prior to the start date, I will offer you a place on courses that run on other dates.   If no alternative is possible or suitable, I will refund the cost of the course in full.
  2. Full payments will also reimbursed if I have to cancel the course due to circumstances beyond my control.  Students must cover their own travel and accommodation bookings in the event of course cancellation.
  3.  If you decide to cancel a booking for whatever reason, one months notice is required in order to fill the place.  If it is filled within the month you will receive a full refund.
